About:
Vala is a new programming language that aims to
bring modern programming language features to
GNOME developers without imposing any additional
runtime requirements, and without using a
different ABI compared to applications and
libraries written in C.
Release focus: Major feature enhancements
Changes:
This release enables the support for non-null types by default, uses a new handwritten parser, and adds support for virtual methods in interfaces. The D-Bus client support now uses the new type modifier 'dynamic', and Vala has experimental support for writing D-Bus services. The 'new' operator is not required anymore for creating struct values, and warnings will be printed when using deprecated syntax. The GLib, GTK+, and many other bindings have been updated, and libsexy bindings have been updated. Many bugs have been fixed.
