[»] learn to use replace, in your editor
by pierced freak - Aug 4th 2005 08:29:53

Since you are not going to give credit where it is due, why not learn to use an editor properly, and learn the replace string/command? :%s/[Tt]orsmo/conky/g for vi, and its clones for example.

Below is the authors rc file for example.

# set to yes if you want tormo to be forked in the background
background no

cpu_avg_samples 2
net_avg_samples 2

[»] rip off

this project is just torsmo with file names, and comments changed..even the dates/comments in the Changelog are the same, same with a few other files.

Uhm, it states right in the description that Conky is a fork of torsmo. Torsmo has been dead for a while. Get over it. Also, try doing a diff between Conky and torsmo, you'll notice a pretty significant difference.

i didnt relise 2+ months between release made a project "dead" if you are refering to the torsmo cvs, then you are still wrong, because the dates on the files there didnt change when 0.18 was released. Maybe the author isnt using the CVS as much as he should. BTW the only place you give torsmo credit is on the sourceforge page, for 1 little line. Yet you use/d all the docs, and stuff for torsmo, even thier Changelog. it looks like you just added a few lines here and there to all there code, dont you think the authors of torsmo deserve alittle more credit? i mean without them you wouldnt have conky.

I consider torsmo dead since the start when I first found it.
I still haven't gotten a reply for my feature request I send.
And as long as credit is given where credit is due I see
        nothing wrong.

If they do then it's not your place to claim that.
If you belive they are being inappropriately credited
then inform them of this project and let them get in touch
with the author(yes author even if it is a rip off as you claim)
of conky. The only person in error here is you. You are attacking
a person for using GPL code whic is still released under GPL
about a rip off. So please stop throwing your dead weight around.
I do not defen the the author of conky but I do know you are wrong
in thinking that you know if it's a rip off or not. The only people that
can make such a claim are the Torsmo developers so contact them
and ask if they belive this is a rip off. Let them examine the source
and if it goes against the GPL or what they belive is enough credit.

And don't waste more time by trolling about such things.
BTW I use neither Torsmo nor Conky. I prefer gkrellm until I find a good samurize clone for linux.
